Key responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate designs and detailed drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Generate material and cost estimates for projects based on client specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure design and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the project management and production teams to ensure smooth delivery of projects.
  • Provide technical support to clients and internal stakeholders during the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and update project documentation using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve design processes and departmental workflows.
  • Prepare for a leadership role by developing an understanding of department management, including resource allocation, project planning, and team leadership.

Skills and qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for project documentation and communication.
  • Ability to interpret and translate technical drawings accurately for quoting and costing purposes.
  • Proven experience in an estimating role, preferably within a similar industry, demonstrating competence in CAD design and estimating.
  • Strong organisational skills with a proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable working primarily in an office setting with occasional site visits as required by project needs.
  • Experience in customer liaison to gather and clarify detailed project specifications.
  • Skilled in cultivating positive relationships with internal stakeholders, external clients, and suppliers, ensuring smooth project execution.
