GSK

The client.

GSK is a global biopharma company with a purpose to unite science, technology and talent – prioritising innovation in specialty medicines and vaccines to prevent and treat disease.

The space.

GSK relocated their global headquarters from Brentford to New Oxford Street in central London, bringing them into London’s burgeoning Life Sciences hub, alongside esteemed academic institutions, such as the Francis Crick Institute and King’s College London.

The new headquarters accommodates approximately 3,000 employees and underscores GSK’s commitment to sustainability, achieving a BREEAM Outstanding rating.

The project.

We were tasked with delivering storage solutions across Levels 1–7 and the basement of GSK’s new central London headquarters. Each floor presented unique challenges, but the overarching goal was to create a seamless, cohesive design that integrated functionality and aesthetics.

For Levels 2–6, the layout followed a consistent design. Simplicity V3 control panels were used, allowing lockers and storage to be accessed via a central control panel. Storage was strategically designed to wrap around the building’s core, ensuring riser doors remained accessible for essential maintenance. To accommodate this, cupboard doors were fitted with special hinges to handle their large size and weight, and floors were reinforced to withstand substantial loads, including the weight of a person standing on the cupboards. A removable centre panel was incorporated into the design to allow riser access without compromising the seamless appearance.

The cupboards also featured built-in rails for coat storage, meeting the client’s requirement for a clean and functional finish. Lockers were seamlessly integrated next to the cupboards with a bespoke plinth, ensuring a consistent and seamless finish that aligned with the large storage cupboards. A custom-designed Plexus unit on castors was added to provide flexible storage, allowing easy movement when riser access was required.

Levels 1 and 7 were designed in the same style as the other floors but on a slightly smaller scale to accommodate their use as meeting rooms and offices.

In the basement, Simplicity V3+ was implemented, enabling locker access through control panels or directly at the locker door. We installed Z-shaped lockers to create a practical changing room that fit the basement’s unique angles. Benches were integrated into the space, and control panels were housed separately, matching the locker finishes to maintain the seamless aesthetic.

Every element – storage cupboards, lockers, and Plexus – was meticulously designed and installed to align with the client’s vision of a sleek, unified look.

The result.

The project successfully delivered a seamless, functional and aesthetically cohesive workspace for GSK.

The custom-designed storage solutions, lockers and Plexus units were carefully integrated into the building’s core, meeting both practical needs and the client’s vision for a clean, unified finish. The flexible, user-friendly design enhances the functionality of each floor, while the basement’s tailored changing room space and independent control panels ensure efficient use of space.

The final outcome reflects GSK’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and creating a modern, collaborative environment for their employees.
