What is the best lock for a locker?

From a standard Key lock, to a Combination lock, a Push-button lock, a Keypad, an RFID lock or even a Smart lock; there are so many different locking options available to choose from.

Who knew there were so many different locks available?

So, coming back to the original question, what is the best lock for a locker? The answer is actually, all of them, it just depends on what lock will best meet your business need.

Your Workspace specialises in locks, and can help you decide what one is best for your storage, lockers, and office furniture.

Let’s look at some of the locks aforementioned and the benefits of each one to help you decide which is best for you:

Key locks

Keys with cam locks are the most common mechanical lock being used, but is it the most effective? Key locks are simple and low-tech to use but lost keys can become an issue. Key locks work with a single master key and are suited to securing low-risk items within the workplace.

Combination locks

This lock opens by entering a sequence of numbers. The sequence may be entered using a single rotating dial which interacts with several discs or cams. Types range from inexpensive three-digit luggage locks to high-security safes. Unlike ordinary padlocks, combination locks do not use keys.

Push-Button Lock

Push-button locks are a high-quality electronic combination slam-latch lock. Thanks to its simple operation, this lock is not only safe and functional, but stands out on account of its high-quality design, strong design and fireproof stainless- steel key. Its internal real time clock feature can automatically unlock at pre-set times and the versatile opening options ensure it caters to the needs of the business.

RFID Locks

RFID Locks are operated by an RFID credential or by an ADA compliant User Key. Manager Keys provide management access and external power, whilst programming is accomplished via a Programming Key unique to the lock system. An optional mobile application tool that can be downloaded to smart phones simplify the lock management system and provides an audit trail for greater visibility of usage.

Simplicity Smart Locks

The crème de la crème of locks. Simplicity Smart Locks are the ultimate locking system for your lockers and storage facilities. We have called the smart locks we offer Simplicity, due to it’s simple, easy and user-friendly capabilities, and range from Simplicity, Simplicity+ and Simplicity with Vecos.

Simplicity is a wired, contact-less smart locker system, that works with any type of storage and locker unit. Simplicity can be operated using a company building access card or by downloading our smartphone app. The real benefits of Simplicity come from our innovative Vecos locker management software and its data capturing capabilities. Running reports to better understand how your storage and building is being used, managing your locker units remotely, and even utilising the data to assist with ‘track and trace’, in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, are just some of the benefits of using our software built directly into the lockers.
