Selfridges

The client.

Selfridges London is a renowned luxury department store, offering a curated selection of high-end fashion, beauty, and lifestyle products. Situated on Oxford Street, it is celebrated for its iconic architecture and exceptional customer experience.

The space.

We were tasked with to modernising the outdated locker room located in the basement. The goal was to replace standard metal lockers with a smart, cutting-edge, space-efficient solution. The focus was on creating a fresh, vibrant space that maximised practicality and minimised costs on corporate real estate.

The project.

The primary challenge of this project was accommodating a large number of locker users, often requiring simultaneous access without causing congestion during peak hours.

To address these challenges, we strategically placed card reader access points in high-footfall areas. Users could easily identify and allocate available lockers for the day, with time limits to prevent locker hoarding. Customised locker sizes were allocated based on individual user needs, eliminating the need for additional keys or cards and enhancing convenience.

The result.

The implementation of our smart locker system not only optimised space utilisation but also streamlined user access and management.

In the next phase, cloud computing capabilities will further enhance user experience by enabling locker allocation via a smartphone app. Additionally, facility managers will gain comprehensive visibility into system usage, facilitating future remodelling efforts and ensuring ongoing efficiency.
