Antibacterial Finishes Help Safe Guard Your Workspace Furniture

In light of the recent Covid-19 crisis, we understand the importance of making your workspaces as safe as possible for your employees and clients. That is why we have decided to highlight the antibacterial and antimicrobial options available to our clients. This will be particularly useful for businesses who are transitioning to agile ways of working, and those who use collaborative and shared workspaces.

Our offering

We already offer a huge range of finishes across our product lines. This includes Egger’s Perfect Sense range, which has antibacterial surface properties.  We are also able to manufacture your furniture and storage in several antimicrobial finishes. Choose from the Abet Laminati Lamishield range, and Formica Infiniti by Formica, which both use Biocote technology. Or any Polyrey finish, which use Sanitized technology. We also offer painted finishes with antibacterial surface properties which can be added to any metal work or surface within your product too.

How can a furniture finish be antimicrobial?

The material ranges mentioned above, are treated with an additive during the manufacturing process. This coating adds antimicrobial protection to the decorative layer of the board; helping to keep the risk of infection and illnesses spread by cross-contamination to a minimum. The coating, which takes advantage of silver’s natural protective properties, kills microbes on the surface, and interferes with their DNA.

The benefits

Biocote and Sanitized both offer scientifically proven antimicrobial technology. This technology provides lasting and effective protection, reducing harmful bacteria by up to 99.99%. It is also antiviral and anti-fungal.

When combined with good hand hygiene, and routine cleaning practices, this inhibits the growth of a wide range of microbes and bacteria on any surface in your workplace that uses this type of finish.

The antimicrobial additive also helps to minimise staining, bad odours, and material degradation on any surface it is applied to. It won’t cause discolouration or affect the final finish, and its protective properties are guaranteed to be effective during the lifetime of the product. A worthwhile investment to safeguard your employees, clients, and guests.
